Wigan's Gary Caldwell was ejected for a foul on Tevez in the 56th minute. Tevez scored in the 72nd by tapping into an empty net after goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic missed Patrick Vieira's high ball, then added goals in the 74th and 84th minutes.
Manchester City (15-5-11) is fifth with 56 points, two behind Tottenham (17-7-7) for fourth place and the final Champions League berth with seven games left. Liverpool (16-10-6) has 54 points and Aston Villa (13-6-12) has 51.
